HUBUNGAN RED DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (RDW) DAN PLATELET DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (PDW) PADA PASIEN SEPSIS YANG DI RAWAT DI ICU RSUP H. ADAM MALIK MEDAN DAN DIHUBUNGKAN DENGAN SKOR SOFA

Abstrak

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a serious condition requiring intensive care with a high risk of
mortality. Red Distribution Width (RDW) and Platelet Distribution Width (PDW) play a role
in predicting the severity of sepsis.
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship between RDW and PDW with Sequential Organ
Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores in sepsis patients at ICU RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan.
METHODS: This study used a cross-sectional design. The population included sepsis patients
in the ICU at RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan. The study subjects were sepsis patients who met
inclusion criteria, totaling 36 respondents. Data analysis used the Pearson Correlation test for
ratio or nominal data.
RESULTS: Most sepsis patients were males with a relatively high average age, high severity
levels, and the majority experienced mortality. The average RDW and PDW were within the
normal range. The average SOFA score indicated a high risk of death in sepsis patients (>
35%). RDW had a significant relationship with SOFA score (p-value < 0.05), with a positive
correlation value (r) of 0.416. However, PDW did not show a significant relationship with
SOFA score (p-value > 0.05), with a low correlation value (r) of 0.206. There was no significant
relationship between RDW and PDW with SOFA score (p-value > 0.05).
CONCLUSION: Most sepsis patients exhibited characteristics indicative of disease severity,
but RDW and PDW were within the normal range. RDW had a significant relationship with
SOFA score, while PDW did not show a strong correlation. Both hematological parameters did
not have a significant relationship with sepsis severity.
