ANALISIS KANDUNGAN YANG TERDAPAT DARI TANAMAN ZINGIBERACEAE UNTUK PENYAKIT GASTRITIS

Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining that can reduce quality of life and develop into more serious stomach disorders if left untreated. Long-term conventional treatment carries the risk of side effects, making research into plant-based gastroprotective agents increasingly important. Plants of the Zingiberaceae family, such as turmeric, ginger, galangal, bangle, and temulawak, are known to contain bioactive compounds such as curcumin, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and essential oils that have the potential to provide anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cytoprotective effects on the gastric mucosa. This review uses a descriptive literature review method from national and international articles related to Zingiberaceae and gastritis. Data were collected through electronic databases, selected based on relevance, and analyzed qualitatively to assess the content of bioactive compounds and their mechanisms of action on gastritis. The results showed that Zingiberaceae extracts were able to reduce gastric acidity, reduce the number and size of ulcers, and repair gastric mucosal damage in preclinical models. Active compounds such as curcumin, xanthorrhizol, 1,8-cineole, and flavonoids play a role in inhibiting excessive acid secretion, suppressing inflammatory mediators, and protecting gastric tissue from oxidative stress. In conclusion, Zingiberaceae plants have the potential as a natural therapy for the prevention and treatment of gastritis, supporting the development of natural-based gastroprotective agents with lower risk of side effects.
Gastritis merupakan peradangan mukosa lambung yang dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup dan berkembang menjadi gangguan lambung lebih serius jika tidak ditangani. Pengobatan konvensional jangka panjang memiliki risiko efek samping, sehingga penelitian terhadap agen gastroprotektif berbasis tanaman obat semakin penting. Tanaman famili Zingiberaceae, seperti kunyit, jahe, kencur, bangle, dan temulawak, diketahui mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti kurkumin, flavonoid, tanin, saponin, dan minyak atsiri yang berpotensi memberikan efek antiinflamasi, antioksidan, dan sitoprotektif pada mukosa lambung.Penulisan review ini menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka deskriptif dari artikel nasional dan internasional terkait Zingiberaceae dan gastritis. Data dikumpulkan melalui basis data elektronik, diseleksi berdasarkan relevansi, dan dianalisis secara kualitatif untuk menilai kandungan senyawa bioaktif serta mekanisme kerjanya terhadap gastritis.Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Zingiberaceae mampu menurunkan keasaman lambung, mengurangi jumlah dan ukuran ulkus, serta memperbaiki kerusakan mukosa lambung pada model pra-klinis. Senyawa aktif seperti kurkumin, xanthorrhizol, 1,8-cineole, dan flavonoid berperan dalam menghambat sekresi asam berlebih, menekan mediator inflamasi, serta melindungi jaringan lambung dari stres oksidatif.Kesimpulannya, tanaman Zingiberaceae memiliki potensi sebagai terapi alami untuk pencegahan dan pengobatan gastritis, mendukung pengembangan agen gastroprotektif berbasis bahan alam dengan risiko efek samping lebih rendah.
