This research aims to determine the effect of cutting heigth on the crude protein and crude fiber and extract ether content of mini elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott). This research was carried out at the Animal Husbandry Study Program Field Laboratory, Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications to obtain 15 experimental units. Treatment consisted of T1 = 5 cm from above the ground surface, T2 = 10 cm from above the ground surface, T3 = 15 cm from above the ground surface, T4 = 20 cm from above the ground surface, T5 = 25 cm from above the ground surface. The variables studied were crude protein, crude fiber and extract ether. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's advanced test. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on crude protein content and had no significant effect (P>0.05) on crude fiber and extract ether content. Duncan’s further test results showed that the T1:T2:T3:T4:T5 was significant different (P<0.05), and the T4:T2:T3:T5 treatment was not significant different (P>0.05) in terms of crude protein content. From the research results it can be concluded that a cutting height of 25 cm on mini elephant grass can produce good quality with a crude protein content of 12.71%, crude fiber 24.82% and extract ether 4.48%.
