FILM DOKUMENTER HIJAU YANG MEMUDAR PETANI GAMBIR DI LIMA PULUH KOTA MENGGUNAKAN GAYA EKSPOSITORI

Abstrak

Hijau Yang Memudar adalah sebuah film dokumenter yang mengangkat persoalan fluktuasi harga gambir dan dampaknya terhadap memudarnya minat generasi muda untuk melanjutkan profesi sebagai petani gambir di Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Sebagai salah satu sentra gambir terbesar di Indonesia, wilayah ini menghadapi ironi ketika komoditas bernilai ekonomi tinggi tersebut tidak berbanding lurus dengan kesejahteraan petaninya, sehingga keberlanjutan warisan agraris yang diwariskan turun-temurun ini semakin terancam. Penciptaan film ini bertujuan merekam dinamika keseharian petani gambir sekaligus menegaskan nilai identitas dan budaya yang melekat pada profesi tersebut, melalui gaya ekspositori dengan narasi Voice of God sebagai pengarah alur cerita dan penyampai informasi. Data diperoleh melalui riset pustaka, studi dokumen, observasi lapangan, dan wawancara dengan akademisi, pemerintah daerah, serta petani. Proses penciptaan dilakukan melalui tahapan persiapan, perancangan, perwujudan, dan penyajian. Hasil akhir karya ini berupa film dokumenter berdurasi kurang lebih 16 menit yang memadukan narasi informatif, wawancara narasumber, arsip, data statistik, dan visual observasional aktivitas keseharian petani. Karya ini menegaskan bahwa keberlanjutan profesi petani gambir tidak hanya berkaitan dengan aspek ekonomi, tetapi juga dengan identitas dan keberlanjutan budaya lokal masyarakat Lima Puluh Kota.

Hijau Yang Memudar (The Fading Green) is a documentary film that addresses the issue of fluctuating gambir prices and their impact on the declining interest of younger generations in continuing the profession of gambir farming in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province. As one of Indonesia’s largest gambir-producing centers, the region faces a paradox in which the commodity’s high economic value is not matched by the welfare of its farmers, threatening the sustainability of this hereditary agrarian tradition. The creation of this film aims to document the everyday dynamics of gambir farmers while affirming the cultural identity embedded in this generational livelihood, through an expository style using Voice of God narration as the guiding narrative device. Data were gathered through literature research, document studies, field observation, and interviews with academics, local government officials, and farmers. The creative process was carried out through four stages: preparation, design, production, and presentation. The final work is a documentary film approximately 16 minutes long, combining informative narration, source interviews, archival material, statistical data, and observational visuals of farmers’ daily activities. This work affirms that the sustainability of gambir farming is tied not only to economic factors but also to the identity and cultural heritage of the Lima Puluh Kota community.
