Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pemahaman dan implementasi good citizenship di kalangan mahasiswa Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei terhadap 50 responden yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner tertutup berbasis skala Likert yang mengukur pemahaman nilai kewarganegaraan, pendidikan karakter, partisipasi sosial, serta pandangan responden terhadap kondisi kewarganegaraan di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden memiliki pemahaman yang baik terhadap konsep good citizenship, terutama terkait pentingnya persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa serta nilai kejujuran, toleransi, kepedulian sosial, dan cinta tanah air. Namun, ditemukan adanya kesenjangan antara pemahaman dan implementasi, yang ditunjukkan oleh dominannya sikap netral dalam menghadapi pelanggaran norma sosial dan isu SARA. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan pendidikan karakter dan pendidikan kewarganegaraan yang bersifat aplikatif dan berkelanjutan.

This study aims to analyze the level of understanding and implementation of good citizenship among students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method involving 50 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire based on a Likert scale, measuring students’ understanding of civic values, character education, social participation, and perceptions of the current condition of citizenship in Indonesia. The results indicate that the majority of respondents demonstrate a good understanding of the concept of good citizenship, particularly regarding the importance of national unity as well as core civic values such as honesty, tolerance, social concern, and patriotism. However, the findings also reveal a gap between conceptual understanding and practical implementation, as reflected in the predominance of neutral responses toward social norm violations and issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations (SARA). This study emphasizes the need to strengthen character education and civic education through more applicative and sustainable approaches.
